FOREST
The Mission of Save The Mozino Forest is to protect the last open space of Upper Darby and preserve the valuable natural resources of the 15 acre Mozino Tract.
What's going on?
The Mozino Tract is a 15 acre forested parcel in Upper Darby Township. It is the LAST remaining undeveloped forested parcel in the township. It contains Collen Brook, a tributary to Darby Creek that flows through the forest.
A developer is proposing to cut down the forest and build a housing development and retail services. This would create traffic problems, overburden the wastewater and stormwater systems, and add hundreds of students to the Upper Darby School district which is already at capacity.
The developer wants to build up to 143 homes - single homes, townhomes, apartment buildings, and commercial space with drive thrus. The current zoning does not allow for this, so the developer has asked the township to create a new zoning district specifically for this project.
The community has responded with overwhelming opposition and reignited a long-standing wish to preserve the forest and turn it into a park.
We have formed the Save The Mozino Forest organization to create a conservation alternative for the Mozino Tract that preserves the forest, protects its valuable natural resources, and brings access to a beautiful and serene park for residents of Upper Darby, and its visitors to enjoy. Forever.

Vote No To Rezone
Contact your local council representative and ask them to vote NO on rezoning the Mozino tract for mixed use!
