SAVE THE MOZINO FOREST
Calls To Action
We are forming a group to act as a common umbrella for people in Upper Darby Township, Haverford Township, and Springfield Township who oppose the development of the Mozino Tract for high density housing and commercial use. There is nothing to recommend this development. It would:
● Destroy the last few acres of woodlands in the Upper Darby Township
● Destroy the habitat for a considerable amount of wildlife
● Destroy a watershed resulting in further run off into Darby Creek with considerable risk of flooding and erosion
● Burden the already crowded state highways surrounding the two sides of the tract: State Road and Township Line Road and burden the local roads
● Burden a sewer system that is already near capacity
● Add hundreds of students to the Upper Darby School District, which is already at capacity
● Add stores to a community that already has many vacant commercial properties
● Distract from the need for redevelopment of other parts of Upper Darby Township,
We are working on forming a non-profit corporation to disseminate news and developments and allow for the exchange of ideas about ways to resist this plan. The speed with which this plan was sprung on the community has us all playing “catch-up.” What we have done so far is start this website. If you continue to check this website, once a week, we hope you see the latest news. Just as important we hope you will see an increasingly organized method of getting information out to the community, exchanging helpful ideas, and partnering with other groups that are opposing this development.
